The approach of Valentine's Day drives five childhood friends to date virtual strangers, even though they know they're being stalked and believe the stalker to be someone they wouldn't necessarily recognize—a former classmate each rejected or betrayed in the sixth grade. The contradictory sexual politics in this lightweight slasher suggest that at some point it was meant to satirize the traditional mores of the self-satisfied female characters, but since we're asked to identify with these women as they conduct their social lives and an ad hoc murder investigation, most of the attempts to ridicule them seem fickle. Jamie Blanks directed a screenplay by Donna Powers, Wayne Powers, Gretchen Berg, and Aaron Harberts, based on a novel by Tom Savage; with Marley Shelton, Denise Richards, and David Boreanaz. 97 min.
