A feisty young woman (Yu Nan of Speed Racer) supports her disabled husband and two children by herding sheep on the rugged Mongolian steppes. After injuring her back, she's urged to divorce her spouse and find a man of means; news travels fast, and soon her isolated camp begins to attract a motley parade of suitors. This 2006 drama is refreshing not only for its gentle comic touches but for director Wang Quanan's refusal to sentimentalize China's vanishing nomadic culture: life is harsh and no one's a saint, including his outspoken heroine. In Mandarin with subtitles. 96 min.

Sorry there are no showtimes for Tuya's Marriage on Saturday, November 21.
