A screenplay by Ingmar Bergman (his first) was the basis for Alf Sjoberg's 1944 film, which is in part an antifascist allegory, in part a study in sexual hysteria. The situation suggests The Blue Angel, with a cruel Latin teacher (nicknamed “Caligula”) terrorizing his class, but later succumbing to (and perhaps killing) one of his students. With Stig Jarrel, Alf Kjellin, and Mai Zetterling. Also known as Frenzy; the Swedish title is Hets.
