The bright, open room is prettily decorated with colorful Thai fabrics, and the room has a loftlike quality that sets it apart from the cramped spaces all too common among Thai restaurants. While the menu is standard, the flavors are anything but: the delicate shrimp dumplings were filled with a generous portion of shrimp paste and herbs, and the tom yum soup perfectly balanced hot and sour flavors. A noodle dish unique to Tiparos -- a light combination of wide rice noodles, tofu, fresh garlic, and green onion -- could have been spicier, but it was still flavorful. Portions are the perfect size for one sitting, so don't expect to take home leftovers. But for an average of $4.50 a dish, how could you expect to?
