Kim Rosenstock's dramedy plays like a cross between the self-conscious whimsy of Miranda July (Me and You and Everyone We Know) and the off-kilter dysfunction of Showtime's Shameless. Having recently roused herself from a numbing depression, high school art teacher Sherry is determined to save not only her agoraphobic mother but also her jilted, heavy-drinking sister who's taken to stealing her onetime fiance's possessions—including his chihuahuas. Sherry also tries to reach the school principal's sullen son (a solid Matt Farabee). Jeremy Wechsler's staging includes some poignant moments and a terrific performance from Guy Massey as the principal. But Rosenstock's taste for twee homiletics and random wacky plot devices (a tiger goes missing from the zoo) make this 90-minute show feel at once overstuffed and undernourished. —Kerry Reid
