Oracle Productions sends up mid-20th-century radio drama by letting it speak for itself. Directors Laura Smith, Brendan Balfe, and Lyndsay Kane each take the actual soundtrack of a vintage show (a sci-fi morality play, a Suspense thriller, and a Hopalong Cassidy episode) and give it a lip-synced staging that features playful visualizations such as mime and shadow play. All three pieces are earnest, delightfully hammy, and, at their most imaginative, a real hoot. Bryan Campbell is especially fun to watch as a charming-but-sinister martian in disguise; Eli Branson gets copious laughs a la Harpo Marx. I only wish that the production did a better job of sustaining its playfulness. Radio Goggles hits a point of diminishing returns and drags a bit before it's over. —Dan Jakes
