It’s hard to argue with free theater—and Quest Theatre Ensemble's latest, a sequel to the 1954 musical version of Peter Pan, makes good on the group's commitment to "non-exclusionary art." There's lots to recommend for Tinkerbell groupies: fairies, mermaids, dancing pirates, and mischievous mermaids. Still, I found myself longing for the original's showstoppers and underwhelmed by a reliance on familiar tropes and cliches. The first act drags, and it seems we'll never really see Wendy's daughter, Jane, get to Neverland. But the cast, led by Jason Bowen and Jamy Gillespie, put everything they've got into the campy musical numbers, and the charm of the unexpected ending makes up for a lot. —Suzanne Scanlon
