Ethnographic filmmaker Jean Rouch, one of the guiding spirits of the French New Wave, directed this classic 1965 account of lion hunting on the border between Niger and Mali. In a fascinating manner the film broaches issues of how to represent its subjects as the hunters recount their adventures after their return.
Also on the program: Rouch's short film
Mammy Water (1955). Sun 1/20, 5 Pm, and Thu 1/24, 7:45 PM.
