In this wistful South Korean feature (2007), three middle-aged men who once played rock music together in college are reunited at the funeral of their band leader; two of the men have recently lost their corporate jobs, and the third is a used-car salesman whose wife and kids have left him. Hoping to survive the recession and reclaim their masculinity, the trio decide to revive their group, Active Volcano; what follows is sort of a tamer version of The Full Monty. The dead man's cute and talented son joins them as front man, but even so, their overnight embrace by local hipsters strains credulity. Director Lee Jun-ik (King and the Clown) shows some impressive camera moves but not enough musical variety, and the sluggish pacing is disastrous for a movie about rock 'n' roll. In Korean with subtitles.
