Anders Thomas Jensen, one of the founders of the Dogma 95 movement, wrote and directed this Danish black comedy about a horrendously geeky butcher (Mads Mikkelsen) who accidentally freezes someone in his meat locker and decides to get rid of the body by carving it up and selling it, much to the delight of his unwitting customers and the consternation of his laid-back partner (Nikolaj Lie Kaas). Jensen also penned Susanne Bier's superb moral drama Open Hearts (2002), with Kaas as a quadriplegic and Mikkelsen as the doctor who takes up with his girlfriend. I was excited to see the three men reunited for this story, but the ghoulish tone and Mikkelsen's glassy performance smother any laughs. In Danish with subtitles. 95 min.
