Almost competent but not quite watchable, this cheapie horror item blatantly steals from The Exorcist and The Blair Witch Project then cheapens its models by tying them to a reality-TV plot structure. It’s a faux documentary about a young woman looking into exorcism rites after she learns that her institutionalized mother is in fact possessed by the devil. Her investigation takes her to Rome (a barely disguised Bucharest), where she meets various experts and two of the least convincing priests you’ll ever see in a movie. It culminates in roughly half an hour of shrill, poorly staged exorcism scenes, most of them shot with a shaky camera that conveniently loses
focus whenever the filmmakers might have to come up with a special effect. William Brent Bell directed, to put it generously.
Sorry there are no upcoming showtimes for The Devil Inside
