Rock star Susanna Hoffs as a graduating college coed searching for sudden romance at an all-night beachside party. Hard to say what this is really, except maybe an inadvertent documentary on child abuse. First-time director Tamar Simon Hoffs, who's also Susanna's mom, is evidently one of those parents who believe their sweetums can do anything, even when she can't (“All you have to do is smile,” you imagine her saying, and Susanna smiles, and smiles, and smiles . . . ). Given the Sadean implications of this vanity misfire, the only real issue is a pornographic one: how far will mom push the parental violation? is she a mom first, or will she throw family embarrassment to the wind? The moment of truth arrives, the moral equivalent of the cum shot, and it looks like she muffs it (some anonymous backside backing off, so you really can't tell). But at least we're given an Aqua-fresh reprieve. With Dedee Pfeiffer, Joan Cusack, and Michael Ontkean.
