The cast of this all-black 1943 musical—Bill Robinson, Lena Horne, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, the amazing Nicholas Brothers—makes it much more palatable than the other 20th Century-Fox tuners of the period, though the production is no better than average. Andrew Stone directed, much too prosaically, with choreography by Katherine Dunham and musical direction by Benny Carter. 77 min.
