If only because it isn't bound by time or space, the Star Trek saga could go on forever, and this 1998 entry makes that seem just fine. Worf (Michael Dorn) endures a late adolescence, Riker (Jonathan Frakes, who's also the director) explores a past passion (in scenes that would seem self-indulgent if Frakes didn't direct himself with such shameless silliness), and Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) obligates the starship crew to protect a planet with healing vibrations from colonists hoping to reverse the aging process. The extravagant makeup and special effects are actually unobtrusive because they're demanded by the pleasantly formulaic story, whose conflicts—and broad, innocuous political allegory—justify the heartwarming resolution.
