Given the choice between carpet and hardwood, most renters would opt for wide-planked timber. But what would you do if you found an amazing two-story, three-bedroom apartment in the heart of Ukrainian Village . . . with brown, industrial-style carpeting covering the entire lower level?

These Space posts are amazing! Dean, I love your eye for detail and your open ended questions -- why isn't everyone responding to them?! This apartment likely wouldn't have even been on my radar -- carpet is practically the only thing I'd turn down (well.... other than wood paneling, and if they wouldn't allow Mr. Kitty, and...). Bravo on these wonderful posts -- they are a treasure trove of resources and inspiration, particularly for those who will soon be transplants to Chicago, like myself!
