A not-quite-young factory worker quits her job to pursue her dream of becoming a rock star. This 1979 film would seem like a typical Jill Clayburgh snoozer were it not for the fact that it was made in East Germany, where self-actualization really was a radical act. Konrad Wolf directed, sticking to a conventional dramatic treatment but slipping in some fascinating views of daily life in the workers' paradise. In German with subtitles.
