Save to foursquare
Eclectic continental restaurant nestled inside the Merc; convenient for power lunchers and opera buffs.

Our Review

This upscale continental restaurant occupies a prime location on the ground floor of the Mercantile Exchange, across the street from the Civic Opera House and overlooking the Chicago River. The mahogany interior, marble floors, and huge outdoor patio make it a popular spot for a power lunch. While some Raters moan about lackluster service, the menu is dependable -- fish, steak, veal -- and there's ample seating indoors and out. The clientele and hours reflect the location. Traders fill the bar area in the afternoon but are replaced by operagoers in the evening, and though the restaurant is usually closed on Sundays, they'll open for dinner if there's a show.
