In this musical comedy from first-time director Jason Moore, a ragtag group of college girls form a competitive a capella group in hope of being crowned national champions. Moore and screenwriter Kay Cannon try to dispel stereotypes, but like the sitcom Glee, their movie demonstrates such ignorance of human behavior that the characters come across like glorified personality traits (there's a lipstick lesbian, a sex-crazed harpy, a bitchy blond, etc). The musical numbers, however, are quite good, if only because they're so disjointed from the narrative. With Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks, and Rebel Wilson playing a character named "Fat Amy."
