Duncan Riddell, a company member of Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre, wrote and directed this low-budget drama, which features numerous local theater veterans in the cast. His subject matter—the romantic and professional tribulations of college-educated 20-somethings—may be familiar from any number of independent productions, but the execution demonstrates a greater awareness of socioeconomic realities. Taking a cue from Anton Chekov's plays (which one character quotes), Riddell portrays the characters as prisoners of middle-class convention, far less rebellious or self-aware than they imagine themselves to be. He makes some solid observations, though the dialogue tends to spell them out more explicitly than is necessary.
