Our Review

What a lovely room: gracefully decorated, adequately lit, and reasonably quiet, with tasteful music at a moderate level. Service is earnestly cordial and fairly polished for a suburban restaurant. The food was nicely done, innovative yet approachable, and well presented. Mixed greens salad was OK. A pork belly appetizer set the tone for the decadence of the short rib entree that followed. My companion's grouper was fresh and beautifully presented (if just a bit salty). An apple crepe dessert was cleverly fashioned into two purses graced with a brown sugar syrup and complemented by maple nut ice cream; the crepe was a bit chewy, but otherwise it was tasty fun. The only real downer was the coffee; at a restaurant with Niche's aspirations, I would expect something fresh and flavorful, like Intelligentsia. Coffee notwithstanding, Niche is my favorite suburban fine dining destination.
