This locally shot independent production depicts the friendship between a young, gay film student (Tyler Ross of The Wise Kids) and a middle-aged, celibate woman who aspires to be a stand-up comic (Natalie West). Director-cowriter Nathan Adloff displays real sensitivity toward the central characters, yet he hasn't crafted a story in which his observations might carry any weight. Nate may learn not to fall for every cute guy who comes along and Margaret may improve as a comedian, but neither development is all that compelling. By Ben Sachs
