We were promised jet packs. But instead of the gleaming future foretold by Saturday-morning cartoons, we ended up with uncertainty, dread, and social-networking sites. In this comedy by Douglas Carter Beane, three bummed-out thirtysomething men decide to track down Tamara Tomorrow (think Buck Rogers with cleavage), the star of a sci-fi TV show they loved as kids. Along the way we learn that Tamara has had her own problems with booze and men, but the script is so shallow and cliched that it's hard to care. Despite a likable cast, the central quest lacks a sense of urgency. Plus, everybody in this inaugural production from Eclectic Theatre Company looks too young for their roles. —Zac Thompson
