Twin sisters Louise and Martine Fokkens are jolly, grandmotherly types who like to wear matching pastel outfits and dote on puppies; they're also five-decade veterans of Amsterdam's Red Light District who specialize in S-M. This wry nonfiction portrait isn't a "pure" documentary; directors Rob Schröder and Gabrielle Provaas stage numerous scenes in the fashion of a dramatic feature, and the twins are clearly playing to the camera during their livelier testimonies. Yet the approach proves a perfect fit for the subjects, whose unflagging love of life is so unlikely that it seems like the stuff of fiction. Just as the Fokkens enjoyed careers in prostitution on their own upbeat terms, the filmmaking revels in cheerful eccentricity; even the explicit S-M images seem oddly convivial. In Dutch with subtitles.
