James Garner represents an uneasy amalgam of the shuffling ineptitude of Elliott Gould and the southern California virility of Dick Powell in his portrayal of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe (1969). Freed from the often overpowering trappings of Chandler's knight (in his Rockford Files character), Garner has an easier time of it, sailing through an updating of Chandler's The Little Sister in suitably time-warped fashion. Slickly but not very memorably served up by director Paul Bogart; with Gayle Hunnicutt, Carroll O'Connor, Rita Moreno, Jackie Coogan, and Bruce Lee.

Sorry there are no showtimes for Marlowe on Tuesday, February 9.
