Evocative images of Mongolia's steppes highlight this 2006 drama by Peter Brosens of Belgium and Jessica Hope Woodworth of the U.S., both of them documentary makers with experience in the region. A young shaman whose powers are revealed during his epileptic fits comes into conflict with military forces after they relocate his nomadic community to work in a mining town. This is well staged and photographed, with stirring aerial images and balletic pans and dolly shots, but the story is muddled by the arrival of a free-spirited girl and her musician pals, 60s-style longhairs battling a government conspiracy. In Mongolian with subtitles. 100 min.
