This downtown Evanston offshoot of the Chinatown favorite serves platter-size portions of piping hot Thai and Chinese dishes out of its exposed kitchen. Japanese seaweed salad is a good standby, as are the small Vietnamese spring rolls and cold sesame noodles. The chicken with string beans is a must-try, loaded with fresh beans in a dark soy sauce. Shelves full of cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, mangos, pineapple, and bananas -- ready to be blended into smoothies in lieu of alcoholic beverages -- complement the cheerful orange walls, royal blue exposed ductwork, and faux-finished moss-colored floors.
