Whether or not it's the low watermark of American culture, MTV's reality show Jersey Shore has all the raw ingredients for good musical theater: oversized characters, lots of emotional tension, and a smush room. But while the TV show can provoke discomfort or even mild horror, this skillful musical parody from 4 Days Late Productions pulls out the elements that make it hilarious and captivating. The story is swift and intelligent, and the brassy, well-paced tunes neatly take the place of the confessional cam. The cast may not satisfy fans expecting body doubles, but their vocal skills more than make up the difference. --Keith Griffith
