A Mighty Wind had already spoofed Harold Leventhal's annual folk concerts at Carnegie Hall when he was honored by the artists he promoted in a November 2003 tribute show. Jim Brown—whose 1982 documentary Wasn't That a Time! told the story of the blacklisted Weavers—was on hand to record the event and interview the group's surviving members, along with Arlo Guthrie, Leon Bibb, Theodore Bikel, and Peter, Paul and Mary. As you might expect, this is hip deep in reminiscence, but the oldest speakers (Leventhal, Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert) are eager to brush aside the nostalgia and connect their memories of the McCarthy era to the current climate of government intimidation. 90 min.
