Conceived and "edited" by Kaitlin Byrd, this ensemble-created effort by the Plagiarists draws inspiration from the work of Tony Schwartz—a celebrated sound archivist whose agoraphobia confined his recording activities to his Manhattan neighborhood. The eight cast members lead us through a lakefront mansion where ruminations on childhood memories, the "golden" recordings carried by the Voyager spacecraft, and the nostalgic siren song of quotidian human noise play out. Though laudably ambitious and filled with earnest performances, the piece doesn't fully tease out the connections between aural and oral histories. The result is a sometimes frustrating, sometimes indulgent journey through the memories of strangers. —Kerry Reid
