As cheesy as the American-International biker flicks of the 60s were, they had a raw vitality missing from this self-conscious tribute. Larry Bishop (who appeared in American International's The Savage Seven back in 1968) wrote, produced, directed, and stars in this low-budget saga of two gangs locked in a decades-long feud. The narrative is murky and ludicrous, the action violent and nihilistic, the contemporary western ethos painfully pretentious. Quentin Tarantino served as executive producer, and his influence is so pervasive—from the casting of Michael Madsen to the tired homages—the movie might have been called “Reservoir Hogs.” With Dennis Hopper and Vinnie Jones. R, 85 min.
