Very small girls probably will have fun at this New World production, which offers them a glimpse of the exciting, romantic world of their elder siblings in the form of an extended rock video. Some charm remains for us old fuddy-duddies (mainly because the dancers are allowed to project some genuine enjoyment of their work), but the movie is also a sad reminder of how much flavor New World films lost after Roger Corman sold the company. The closest cross-reference is Allan Arkush's Rock 'n' Roll High School, and the bland cheerfulness that director Alan Metter generates here just can't hold a candle to the old anarchic energy and invention. But Helen Hunt, the wisecracking second lead, does make a plausible Eve Arden for the 80s. With Sarah Jessica Parker, Lee Montgomery, and Morgan Woodward.
