"Flame" and "Citron"—aka Bent Faurschou-Hviid and Jorgen Haagen Schmith—were the most celebrated members of the Holger Danske resistance group, which carried out numerous sabotage and assassination plots during the Nazi occupation of Denmark. This drama by Ole Christian Madsen (Kira's Reason: A Love Story) maintains a high level of suspense for more than two hours as the title operatives (Thure Lindhardt and Mads Mikkelsen) tool around Copenhagen executing informers and collaborators, but it also works as a sort of fact-based remake of Jean-Pierre Melville's Army of Shadows (1969), pondering the moral ambiguity of the resistance movement as patriotism and humanity begin to diverge.
