In these 16-millimeter shorts, Chicago-based artist Ian Curry plays with the physical properties of celluloid photography and projection; some of the films are designed as live performances, with Curry manipulating aspects of the presentation to create spontaneous visual effects. In Wrecked (2012), found footage of a car crash is presented deliberately out of focus, so the figures onscreen appear as flickering bursts of color; in the multiprojector piece All Day (Into the Weeds) (2013), he layers footage from three separate reels, shot in the kitchen of a busy restaurant, to evoke a sense of happy chaos. That feeling also comes through in Having Her Baby (2008) and Good Morning! My Name Mike (2010), which employ superimposition and overlapping sound loops to present, respectively, a noise-rock band rehearsing and the daily routine of a destitute Boston man who collects bottles and cans for recycling. Total running time is approximately 70 minutes.
