Fat Tuesday
Contestants show their mettle in a crawfish-eating contest, with the goal of eating three pounds of the crustaceans in as little time as possible. It's $25 to play, and free to watch; for spectators, there are specials on Abita Turbo Dog ($3 per pint) and free beads, masks, and other Mardi Gras paraphernalia. Proceeds go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which promotes research and treatment of childhood cancers.
