Disney goes meta in this witty, exuberant musical comedy whose parody and nostalgia serve a sweet and affecting romance. In 2-D animation, an evil queen (given voice by Susan Sarandon) magically casts her stepson's fiancee (Amy Adams of Junebug) into oblivion; in live action, the maiden lands in the middle of Times Square, a contemporary damsel in distress. One day her prince will come, but not before she charms a cynical divorce attorney (Patrick Dempsey) and his motherless daughter. Adams, who could slay an ogre with her megawatt smile, flawlessly riffs on every Disney fairy-tale heroine from Snow White (in the zany number “Happy Working Song”) to Cinderella. Kevin Lima directed; with James Marsden, Timothy Spall, and Idina Menzel. PG, 107 min.

Sorry there are no showtimes for Enchanted on Sunday, November 22.
