Relax, romance-phobes, you're not in for 90 minutes of schmaltz. Produced by Chicago Dance Crash and Culture Shock Chicago, this edition of the annual showcase features FootworKINGz members Tee-Jay and Stepz in Classical--a zany duet set to selections from Beethoven. The dance isn't as speedy as most footworking, but all the locking and slo-mo moves pay off in dead-on music visualization. Hubbard Street 2 performs a duet from I Can See Myself in Your Pupil, Andrea Miller's piece about awkward new love set to folksy, bouncy music by Balkan Beat Box. Despite the woman's girly moves and obvious interest, she and her would-be hookup can't seem to connect. Both FootworKINGz and HS2 are making their Duets for My Valentine debuts. Other newbies on the program, hosted by comedian Ralphie Roberts: Thodos Dance Chicago, Latin Street Dance Company, choreographers Brian Enos and Harrison McEldowney, and capoeira master Emily Conrath. Returning are Chicago Tap Theatre, Elements Ballet, and the producing companies. --Laura Molzahn
