The habitually profane Steve Harvey takes his stand-up comedy to the toughest room imaginable: a packed 16,000-seat arena at MegaFest, the annual Pentecostal revival organized by televangelist T.D. Jakes. Harvey's no Richard Pryor, but the high-wire act he pulls off here—keeping it clean but real—generates the sort of drama that electrified Pryor's legendary concert movies. Most of the audience members are delighted by Harvey's riffs on Michael Jackson, disciplining children, and the foibles of churchgoing folk, though some of them clearly aren't. The show ends with a moving declaration of faith by the star, who was raised in the church, but there's no denying that his funniest moments spring from impulses that are less than charitable.
