Turned off by retrograde porn industry norms, out-of-work private equity exec Matt (a nuanced Michael Patrick Thornton) proposes to tap into a new market: socially responsible smut for the fair-trade crowd. That means no teenagers in pigtails, racial exploitation, or rape fantasies. And not only will condoms be worn, he vows, but they'll be biodegradable. Already suspect for its anachronistic assumption that people still pay for porn, Andrew Hinderaker's satire on American capitalism ultimately pushes the boundaries of plausibility in a way that undermines all the filthy fun. Still, Jonathan Berry's ambitious, electric directing and a superb cast carry Gift Theatre's production past Hinderaker's plot problems. —Dan Jakes
