If you listen to music on a smartphone and regularly use public transportation, you might want to consider deleting the cover art to Death Grips' recent No Love Deep Web before loading it onto your mobile device—unless you don't mind fellow commuters looking over your shoulder to see an overexposed photo of an erect cock. It wasn't the dick pic that got the Sacramento-based punk-rap group in trouble with Epic (who recently dropped them) so much as the fact that they released the album online, for free, without warning anyone. And then they went ahead and posted private e-mails from the label about the contract violations the stunt caused to the official Death Grips Facebook page. What Epic intended to do with an album as aggressive as Deep Web—which consists largely of frenetic front man Stefan Burnett shouting himself hoarse over ugly electronics and frenzied, zig-zagging drumming by underground art-rock hero Zach Hill—remains a mystery. But judging by the deafening buzz raised by the album and a string of vicious shows at CMJ directly after its leak, the boys will do just fine without them. —Miles Raymer
