Though it's being presented as part of a fringe festival, this Bruised Orange production is far from edgy. In fact, I'd say it's hedgy—as in, the sort of thing somebody's sister puts on in a hedge-lined backyard, to occupy the neighborhood kids on a dull summer's day. The premise is actually kind of cute: an angst-filled grad student named Jeannie steps through a wormhole that takes her back 149 years to the Battle of Gettysburg, where she encounters her father, a fanatical Civil War reenactor who stumbled through the same wormhole months earlier. A few of the bits, also, kind of cute—especially the musical interludes featuring Alison Connelly's Jeannie doing vintage Motown girl-group moves. But overall, the piece is more insipid than silly and embarrassingly ragged. Only a parent standing by the barbecue with a vodka tonic could love it. —Tony Adler
