We don't refer to beloved local musicians as poseurs very often, but for Andre Foisy of Locrian we're willing to stretch the term! Foisy, who contributes guitar and vocals to the group's delightfully unsettling drone metal, teaches several classes a week at West Town yoga studio Turbodog. He tells Gossip Wolf that he's leading a candlelight session on Fri 3/7 that includes a dark ambient soundtrack by several of Locrian's mates on Milwaukee experimental label Utech, among them James Plotkin, Nadja, and Horseback. Afterward, as the students rest in the corpse pose, Foisy will play a half-hour solo set that "channels the healing vibrations of the electric guitar." The session is $16; newbies as well as experienced yogis are welcome.

This wolf is a fan of Catholic Tapes, the experimental label run by noise nerd and Synth-Chili Cook-Off cofounder Brett Naucke, but until this month it hadn't released anything in a year—fortunately the label is back, and its new 75th release is Naucke's Transparency seven-inch. Catholic Tapes plans to put out a bunch more music in March, all by locals—including Vehicle Blues, a shoegaze project from Lillerne Tapes honcho Gabe Holcombe, and sludge punks Rectal Hygienics. Naucke also promises "a few other zines and things."

Local rapper Kit, who you may remember from 2013's New Wavey mixtape, recently collaborated with Bay Area beat maker Dixie Hype on "I Bop," an homage to Chicago's party-happy bop scene—and on Thu 2/27, this wolf will premiere it on the Bleader! Kit has also started a monthly DJ night at Logan Square bar East Room with members of Jody and Supreme Cuts; come spring they're hoping to do it every Tuesday.

On Mon 3/3 this wolf's favorite nomadic psych-pop oddball, Shawn Rosenblatt (aka Netherfriends), drops a killer, catchy album called P3ACE; it's on Bandcamp for preorders, and it'll be free on Netherfriends' website.
