Small West Loop cafe with Italian offerings and a respectable selection of wine, beer, and specialty drinks.

Our Review

This small West Loop corner cafe is a mixed bag. The spartan furnishings combine with the hardwood floor to create nightmarish acoustics that require sports-bar-level shouting, and service from the kitchen was slothlike: it was almost an hour before our entrees appeared. The meal got off to a shaky start with the prosciutto con mellon, three mournful slices of honeydew scantily wrapped in the fattiest ham I've ever sampled. A chicken-pesto panini was colorful but curiously subdued. Rigatoni, however, was a winner, the fresh pasta al dente and tossed with a creamy, savory tomato cream sauce and generous slices of spicy sausage. Tiramisu and a server-recommended shiraz paired up nicely with this satisfying dish. There's a respectable selection of wine, beer, and specialty martinis.
