The bonhomie of the Barbershop comedies easily survives a switch in locale (from Chicago to Atlanta) and gender, with Queen Latifah taking over for Ice Cube as genial straight man to a shop full of salty hair professionals. Alicia Silverstone is wonderful as the small-town white girl who infiltrates the all-black shop, and Alfre Woodard, always a treasure, gets the Cedric the Entertainer part, quoting Maya Angelou as she flounces around in a leopard-skin coat. As in the other two movies, the plot is a thin cardboard box carrying an assortment of observational doughnuts—in this case, estrogen-fueled shop talk about race, men, and the politics of looking good. With Andie MacDowell, Mena Suvari, Della Reese, Djimon Hounsou (charming as Latifah's love interest), and Kevin Bacon (terrible in a camp part as a limp-wristed Austrian). PG-13, 105 min.
