Jane Fonda has spent years apologizing for this 1968 atrocity, in which she plays a naive American type in an outer space populated by sadistic European heavies. Terry Southern wrote the script, swiping most of it from his sour Candy. The film is ugly on so many levels—from art direction to human values—that it's hard to know where to begin. Let's be charitable and write it off to love—Fonda was married to director Roger Vadim at the time. With John Phillip Law, Anita Pallenberg, Milo O'Shea, David Hemmings, Marcel Marceau, and Ugo Tognazzi.
