The residents of a small town hole up in a diner while the world outside starts looking like the Book of Revelation in this new comedy from Cor Res Theatre. Playwrights Bobby Hoffman, Jeremy Kanne, and Allison MacWilliams-Brooks assemble a cross section of familiar types, allowing them exactly one character-defining adjective apiece—the war vet is gruff, the artist kooky, the waitress maternal. The cast seem oddly doleful and listless for people in a comedy, and the only funny lines are the ones intended to be serious. My favorite is uttered by the vet to a man risking death to find his pregnant wife: "Ain't nobody need a dead man for a daddy, and that's a fact." —Zac Thompson
