140 minutes
This is the one where Gene Kelly dances with Jerry the Mouse, a classic bit of animation that Disney wouldn't have been ashamed of. The rest of this 1945 film is tepid and slow, with Kelly and Frank Sinatra as two sailors on shore leave in Hollywood who get involved with wholesome extra Kathryn Grayson and her aggressively adorable nephew (Dean Stockwell). George Sidney directed, a long way from the slam-bang vulgarity of his most entertaining work; the choreography is by Kelly and Stanley Donen. With Jose Iturbi.

Sorry there are no showtimes for Anchors Aweigh on Friday, May 24.
