<![CDATA[New York, (do I say alas) is way ahead on this one. Look for the proposal that Sustainable South Bronx has put out for a facility on land that would otherwise become a prison-full scale construction, glass and other waste recycling, creating jobs, saving landfill space, and turning scrap into building and other materials without having to buy those along with the labor on projects - and please don't tell me that's the catch, that too many people are making money off things the way they are, and the alderman just roll over for whatever Daley wants...oh, never mind...

Oh, they're already bought and paid for! You can currently take scrap, including aldermen, to 4716 N. Sheridan Rd.

We are in an economic slow down Mick similar to the great depression. Stories on Dumpsters, are not relevant. Some people will be diving into dumpster to feed their family. Maybe Coconate.

How about this? How about we charge a deposit on our elected officials? There deposit will be the money they raise through fundraising and donations. If they don't fulfill there campaign promise's. They must donate there deposit to environmental programs.

<![CDATA[One of the problems with recycling glass is that it needs to be sorted and the cost of labor involved to do is far in excess of the value added. The most desirable clear glass is only worth a couple of cents a pound. as scrap. The most practical way to deal with the bottle and can situation is to charge a deposit with the money from unreturned containers going to the government to help fund other environmental programs.
