      <![CDATA[As much as I respect Sargent Shriver, Mike, your gratuitous bash of the neo-cons is just wrong.
    
    Neo-cons are not small government types.  They are big gov types.  Milling around in projects like "the war on poverty" is completely in line with the neo-con philosophy of interventionism, even when you know results of previous interventions.
    
    The programs you attribute to Shriver can be seen as dismal failures 40 years after their launch, yet, somehow we are expected to get teary eyed remembering such disasters as Public Housing.
    
    Forty Six years after the fact, we can look back at Shriver's one great success, Special Olympics, which his wife Eunice founded.  Despite all the failures of government experimenting with social planning, Special Olympics thrives to this day due to the dedication of the Shrivers.
