      <![CDATA[I always liked the mag, though that could be since I was buying it before the web. 
    
    Then again, the reason I used to buy remains the best reason to buy it: to read it on a plane. I once landed in another city in the US an expert on nanotechnology because of the Economist's special issue on it that week.

    I'm tired of the <i>Economist</i> too, but they keep sending it to me despite my not renewing.  I guess the gains from larger circulation numbers and the associated higher ad rates must be greater than the losses from sending people like me the mag for free.  For me it is a good place to get business and finance coverage, though, as that's not something I follow daily.
    
    Americans' (including my) reactions to and perceptions of the mag are interesting, though.  I imagine there's something to be said about the irony of our breakaway republic's fascination and admiration of British culture.  Someone smart has probably written about this in depth.
    
    And at least Sullivan changed his mind about the neocons, last I checked.
