<![CDATA[The Stone-to-TV move, while not a done deal, was always a matter of time to me. The minute I heard him sitting in for DJ (when Jackson took time off last season for the birth of his daughter), I knew Jackson has just Wally Pipp-ed himself. At the risk of deifying Stone, I haven't heard any other colorman better. No one else I've ever heard can do that eerie predict-the-play-before-it-happens better than he does. It is a wonder to hear. In addition, I believe Reinsdorf will make this happen. Do you honestly think ESPN was seeking out Chris Singleton after his season as a color man on the radio with Farmer. Reinsdorf found out Stone was available and interested and with his considerable baseball pull I am convinced that Reinsdorf pulled some strings to get Singleton the job in order to bring in Stone. And I am equally sure that he will help DJ land somewhere (on Sox radio?) in order to bring Stone to TV. Stone will do for Hawk what he did for Harry Carey: keep him in check and focused on the game without being too much of a homer.
